Summer is here and it’s important to stay hydrated otherwise it will lead to dehydration, dizziness and migraine. When you are dehydrated, your body does not have enough energy/electrolytes and fluid to function properly. The good thing is that there are several ways to keep yourself hydrated other than drinking water.
1) Water-rich fruit:
Water-rich fruits like watermelon, musk melon, orange, grapes and vegetables like cucumbers and lettuces will not just keep your body hydrated but will also supply it, its daily dose of vitamins, proteins and minerals.
2) Drink coconut water:
There is no better alternative to water than coconut water. Other than quenching your thirst, it also has astonishing properties like acting as an anti-oxidant and helping prevent kidney stones and heart diseases.
3) Fruit juices
If you don’t like coconut water, do not worry as we got your back! There is always a substitute. Fruit juices like sugarcane juice, orange juice, watermelon juice; will help you stay hydrated and will be a rather interesting option than having plain water. It will also provide your body with nutrients.
4)Take cold water baths/ showers
To avoid excessive perspiration and to balance your body temperature, it is preferable to take cold showers instead of hot ones. This does not necessarily stop dehydration but it definitely keeps you from losing fluids.
5) Avoid alcohol
Alcohol can stimulate dehydration so ensure that you limit your consumption to avoid the same. Drink in moderation. We know it is tempting to have a chilled beer on a hot, sunny day but make sure you compensate that by having more water.
6) Check your urine
Yes, you heard us right. Checking the colour of urine can determine whether you are dehydrated or not. Urine should be pale yellow and clear. If its darker, you could be consuming less fluids.
The best way to remind yourself to stay hydrated is to carry a bottle everywhere you go. This will reduce careless spending and will also be constant reminder to drink water. Our Root7 bottle can keep any beverage cold for 30hrs. It’s a perfect companion for all your endeavors.
Staying hydrated and taking care of your body, especially now when the temperature has risen to its maximum, should be a priority.
