Make Mental Health A Priority This Year - This Is Why

Not feeling good enough, always criticizing yourself, doubting everything; these are common things all of us go through in some way or the other. You are on a constant war with your mind. Just like how in a battlefield, there is bloodshed and immense pain; a war with your mind has only one outcome and that is breaking you into tiny fragments of self-doubt and self-criticism. It’s very important to stop this constant, annoying voice nagging in your head which makes you believe that you are worthless. If you give your emotions the power over your thoughts, you will never be happy. You will end up over-analyzing everything. It will act as a hindrance to your self-growth because you won’t be able to see anything beyond your perspective. Everything you feel will be magnified and you will forget to live in the present.

Life is a roller coaster. There are ups and down. Till you don’t go down, you won’t be able to rise up. Take failure as a golden opportunity. Your low does not define you, but the way you overcome it and rise just like how a phoenix rises from its ash defines you and makes you special. 7.8 billion people in the world and no two people look the same. It’s the difference that makes you, you. Embrace it instead of altering it to please others. One more thing that I have learnt over the last couple months is that being happy with yourself is probably the greatest blessing you can have. The COVID-19 pandemic restricted all of us in 4 walls. This was a test of our survival. It’s not the money, the fame or the power that really mattered at the end of the day. It was the lessons that it taught us. It taught us how you only need bare necessities, support and love to be happy.

It is okay to not be okay. But is it okay to not do anything about it? No. You have one life and you can’t let it go by dwelling on your insecurities. Mental health matters. It’s the way you look at life, will life look at you the way you want it to. Its super easy to say and as difficult to implement it but take one step at a time.  Keep appreciating yourself. No matter how small of a hurdle you overcome, you need to praise yourself and have faith to keep going. You should be answerable only to yourself. Go for therapy, if that helps you. Seek help instead of shutting yourself down. You will be surprised to see the number of people who have your back. Treat yourself the way you want others to treat you because at the end of the day only you can be there for yourself. Instead of giving others and their opinions that much power, give yourself that much power and you will notice amazing changes in your life. It is a gradual and a slow process, but it is worth it. The day you start loving yourself for the way you are, will be the day you will start loving life. Loss, conflicts, miscommunication, loneliness and anxiety can pull you down to a depth of despair and sorrow, but love, optimism, humbleness, gratitude and faith can pull you up even higher to a sky full of abundance, happiness and opportunities. It is not too late to create the life you want to live because eventually life is not about existing but about living.
