6 TIPS TO STARTING YOUR PLASTIC-FREE LIFESTYLE TODAY

Did you know that of the 100 million plastic bottles used daily, 80% of them are found in the landfills and oceans. Our goal for July, and every month that follows, is to continue to build habits that allow us to be plastic free! Making the decision to become plastic-free is a small sacrifice for a better environment in the future.

1. Switching to a Reusable Water bottle :

Plastic water bottles end up in landfills and eventually make their way to our oceans. Once ingested, the chemicals from these bottles can cause animals to become very sick, or even, die. Try using reusable drink bottles (made out of stainless steel), instead of plastic. Stainless steel will prevent the chemicals from plastic leaching into your drink, and giving you a cleaner taste. Find a reusable bottle that is right for your lifestyle and our oceans. An insulated, stainless steel Root7 bottle will keep drinks the right temperature all day – reducing the need to stop for a chilled bottle of water from the convenience store and at the same time saving our environment from further plastic pollution.

2. INVEST IN A REUSABLE STRAW:

Straws are found everywhere and provide a convenient way for us to drink our favorite beverages. Instead of using multiple plastic straws, purchase a reusable one like Final Straw.

3. START USING A REUSABLE COFFEE CUP:

Instead of using single-use coffee cups from the coffee machine or shop, start using a reusable coffee cup every time you want to have your coffee on the go.

4. USE REUSABLE BAGS WHENEVER YOU GO SHOPPING:

Live Plastic-Free With Reusable Shopping Bags. This is the easiest thing you can do to go plastic free. Just take 3-4 reusable bags with you whenever head out for shopping. This will immediately cut down all of your plastic shopping bag waste.

5. CUT OUT FROZEN MEALS:

Most of the frozen meals come in containers that have plastic in them. Cut these out and you will drastically reduce your plastic consumption and you will be eating much healthier.

6. JOIN A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS:

Look for a local or online community of other people living plastic-free lifestyles. This will provide you support and a place to ask questions when you’re confused whenever you need to. They will uplift you whenever you feel demotivated and will keep you updated about the new switches you can make.

It’s time to protect our environment by making small switches which will do good to us too.
